On the 9th Day of Christmas

Webinars need to be engaging!

On the 9th day of Christmas my true love shared with me 9 webinars … 8 autoresponders, 7 free reports, 6 videos, 5 infographics, 4 articles, 3 slideshows, 2 Kindle books, and a new cover for my Facebook page.

Webinars are a favorite with the internet marketing set as well as in the corporate training world.  There is a big difference in the way webinars are used in those 2 environments, but they could each learn something from the other.

Corporate training experts know the importance of carefully structuring webinar content to help the audience process and recall what they’ve learned.  They know about the need to show less text and more pictures on their slides and to interact with the audience using polls, handouts,  and chat functionality.

But corporate trainers could learn a thing or two from internet marketers about how to build up interest in future training webinars and to emphasize the benefits which participants will gain from attending a webinar.

Internet marketers tend to focus on creating new webinars quickly so they can continually offer new products for their audience to purchase – either their own products or inviting guests to sell their products and share a commission with the webinar host.  More emphasis seems to be placed on developing new products to sell, rather than developing high quality webinar content.

These internet marketers could learn something from corporate trainers about the importance of presenting a clear, well structured message that helps participants truly grasp the main message and be able to make better decisions about which products to purchase.  Corporate trainers could also teach them ways to increase the odds of customers actually completing the training courses they purchase and then implementing the new ideas in their own lives and/or businesses – which, in turn, would lead to more satisfied customers making more purchases and giving more great testimonials and referrals.

Whichever webinar world you find yourself inhabiting, be sure to make an occasionally visit to the “other side of the tracks”.  Sign up for an email list that is outside your usual millieu and register for some webinars that are outside your usual comfort zone.  You’ll be surprised what you can learn from a completely different perspective!

What goals will you set for yourself to learn some new webinar techniques or skills in 2014?
